Alpine rock climbing requires an additional and more flexible skill set than low elevation climbing. Glaciated approaches, endless sections of low 5th class terrain, and mountain weather combine to make mountain rock climbs a more serious endeavor. This course teaches skills that allow experienced trad leaders a smooth transition from areas like Squamish to areas like the Bugaboos. Combining this course with Rescue Systems over the same weekend is highly recommended. This allows us sufficient time to teach fundamentals of crevasse rescue.
