Multi-pitch Guiding

The Stawamus Chief is world famous for multi-pitch granite climbing and Squamish Rock Guides has been leading guests on memorable adventures for almost 30 years. Colin Moorhead, the owner of SRG, has been climbing in Squamish for more than three decades and ensures that all of our guides are at the top of the multi-pitch rock guiding field. Our dedication to this aspect of the profession is not to be understated, and we encourage our guests to review the guides’ résumés for a better understanding of the depth of our talents.

In Squamish, we are incredibly lucky because we have multi-pitch routes for all abilities. If you’ve never tried a multi-pitch climb before, the Apron on the Chief has excellent five to seven pitch routes in the 5.7 to 5.9 grade range. For those with a little more experience, a climb to the top of the Chief is entirely possible with many excellent 5.9 to 5.11 routes from which to choose. Finally, half-day outings are easily planned as we have many shorter, but equally impressive routes at our disposal on and around the Chief.
