Romain Thomyre
ACMG Apprentice Rock Guide
Romain started climbing as a kid in France but moved away from it at 18 to explore other adventures. He spent nearly a decade living abroad—in Germany, Brazil, the USA, and eventually Canada—immersing himself in new cultures and picking up sports like surfing, kitesurfing, and canoeing.
In 2023, Romain moved to Squamish with his wife, making the Sea to Sky corridor their new base. There, he reconnected with the mountains and the vertical world, now balancing life as an engineer with his path as an apprentice rock guide. He loves using his climbing skills as a tool for bigger wilderness adventures. For Romain, climbing can be the goal—but just as often, it’s the gateway to some of the most stunning and remote places on Earth.
